In the Cave
2011 - 2012
A journey back to the origins of representation, a time of propitiatory rites when man painted the cave walls as though an image might change the course of events. An era when dream blurred with awareness of life and hallucination stamped its shadow on the rockface. A desire may then have awoken in man to fix and hold fragments of reality.
This prompted me to set tiny objects in candle light and photograph the shadows they cast on the wall. I sought to conjure an antique vision outside time, where everything is simply image.
